Bucky Barnes is looking for redemption after a life spent as a brainwashed killer. Sam Wilson is trying to determine how he can use his unique talents to do the best in a politically complicated world. Both are mourning their former mentor Captain America, and maybe their shared grief can help both of them. But a terrorist group known as the Flag-Smashers leave the two mismatched men on a globe trotting journey that puts them directly in the sights of John Walker — an unstable and overwhelmed former soldier who has been offered the mantle of Captain America by the United States government.
