Harry Dresden is a skilled private investigator, but he also happens to be a capable sorcerer. And despite his attempts to keep his life in order, Harry regularly finds himself helping the local police with investigations that don't seem to make a lot of sense. As an heir to a magical line with a tragic history, Harry is reluctant to let people close. He faces skepticism from his main contact within the Chicago police department, but he also begins to develop romantic tension with her. But his most powerful friends in Chicago are almost always connected back to the larger wizard community.
