The Valet (2006)

In the opulent world of Paris, Pierre Levasseur's (Daniel Auteuil) life takes an unexpected twist after his marriage to Christine (Dame Kristin Scott Thomas), a woman of considerable wealth. Reveling in his newfound affluence, he embarks on a clandestine affair with the stunningly leggy supermodel, Elena (Alice Taglioni), who becomes his concealed mistress. However, their secret liaison spirals into chaos when a photograph featuring them, along with an unknown man, finds its way into Christine's hands. The only way to salvage the situation is to find the mysterious stranger and convince him to play along as Elena's boyfriend. Pierre successfully identifies the man as François Pignon (Gad Elmaleh), a humble valet, and persuades him to join his high-stakes deception with a handsome payment. Thus begins an elaborate ruse, with François and Elena moving into a small apartment together, presenting the illusion of a romantic relationship. Complications arise when Christine, unsatisfied with her husband's explanation, hires a private detective to scrutinize Elena's every move. In the meantime, François is torn between his love for Émilie (Virginie Ledoyen), his growing attraction towards Elena, and the overwhelming charade. His life is further complicated by Richard (Dany Boon), a nosy friend, and Pierre's growing fear of losing Elena to the valet. This fear leads Pierre to hire his own spy to keep a close eye on the faux couple. Meanwhile, François' newfound status and self-confidence impress Émilie, the woman he truly loves. At the same time, Elena, used to the extravagant lifestyle of a billionaire's mistress, experiences the simplicity of life with a nice guy. The billionaire himself, feeling threatened, begins to understand the true cost of his adultery. Will this tangled web of deceit lead to newfound wisdom or only further chaos?
