The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

The film opens with Andy Dufrense being sentenced to life in jail for the murder of his wife - a crime he did not commit. Upon arrival in the jail, Andy settles in, making friends and attempts to live the best possible life in prison. He must navigate tumultuous relationships, manage corrupt guards, and work to improve his own life in jail. The film spends much of its time mulling the nature of freedom and what sort of life men who are in jail forever will have - even if they are able to leave the jail one day.
