The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

In 1981 in San Francisco, Chris Gardner is a salesperson for a bone density-scanner machine that is portable and a better product than X-ray machines, despite their high price. Knowing his target audience for the devices, he goes to area physicians hoping to sell them. Unfortunately, the bone density-scanner machine is an expensive luxury to many physicians, and Gardner struggles in his venture. To add to his misfortune, his wife, Linda, leaves him and his five-year-old son, Christopher. Finally, due to being behind on his rent, Gardner gets evicted from his apartment. Homeless with a young son, he sells the machines while taking an unpaid internship at brokerage and security firm Dean Witter after deciding to become a stockbroker. Will Gardner finally get his big break?
