Plot

In the heart of an antiquated windmill, amidst the tranquil murmur of nature, a diverse assembly of creatures - birds, timid mice, and bats - have carved out an unconventional sanctuary. As the night sky drapes over them, the neighboring pond comes alive with a symphony of croaking frogs, chirping crickets, and twinkling fireflies. Yet, this harmony is precariously perched on the edge of disruption. The onset of an ominous storm looms, threatening to shatter the calm. The windmill, with its creaking timbers and groaning mill wheel, becomes a stage for an increasingly dramatic spectacle. As the violent tempest escalates, the mill wheel stirs, stirring fear among its occupants. Every crack of thunder, every gust of wind, threatens to rip apart their safe haven. In this Oscar-winning short film, The Old Mill (1937), the until-now peaceful sanctuary becomes a battleground, where the inhabitants must fight to stay dry and safe. The relentless storm wages war against the windmill, shaking its foundations and threatening to erase all traces of the life it shelters. Yet, as the storm wanes and the dawn breaks, the mill and its inhabitants are left to pick up the pieces, a testament to the resilience of life and the power of shelter.
