Plot

In the radiant, utopian cityscape of Vanille, a father and son engage in a timeless game of chess, their world colored by the gentle strokes of a Victorian Eden. Through the father's advanced ImmerSyst Eyes & Ears, their reality is a symphony of idyllic sights and sounds, an orchestrated paradise. However, a glitch in the father's device begins to fracture this serene illusion, bleeding in ominous shades of a dystopian future, threatening to shatter their perfect world. As the boundaries between reality, perceived reality, and parallel reality start to blur, the father is confronted with the terrifying spectacle of a dark, decaying future seeping into their present. The chessboard, once a symbol of their tranquil existence, now becomes a battlefield of waning sanity and emerging chaos. The world they thought they knew may well be a meticulously crafted facade, a yearning echo of a nostalgic past. With the imminent collapse of his idyllic world, the father is forced into a desperate quest. He must venture into the depths of Vanille, a city that hides its violence and danger beneath a veneer of beauty and illusion. His mission is to find a replacement device, a lifeline to restore their paradise. But can he navigate through the distorted labyrinth of his own traumatic reality, or will he succumb to the creeping shadows of the dystopian future? "The Nostalgist" is a poignant journey that intertwines the intimate bond between a father and son with a gripping exploration of reality's fragile veneer, painting a compelling portrait of human resilience in the face of disintegration.
