The Last King of Scotland (2006)

The horrifying atrocities of real world dictator Idi Amin are seen through the perspective of a fictionalized Scottish doctor who became close to the brutal but charming leader. Nicholas Garrigan comes to Uganda to work in an underserved rural hospital. When new president Amin promises a new golden age for his country, Garrigan buys in to what he's selling. In turn, Amin takes a shine to the young doctor and makes him his personal physician. As a personal aide to the king, Garrigan lives a life of privilege — but that won't protect him from the rage and paranoia of the president.
