The Illusionist (2006)

Based on a short story by Pulitzer-winning author Steven Millhauser, The Illusionist takes place in late 19th century Vienna, when a magician called Eisenheim astounds audiences with his audacious and innovative acts. As a child, he meets and falls in love with Sophie, the Duchess of Teschen, but because of his low station, he is forbidden from seeing her. After she grows up, Sophie is instead promised to marry the malevolent and arrogant Crown Prince Leopold of Austria-Hungary. Eisenheim must use all his powers as an illusionist to save her from a potentially loveless and cruel marriage.
