The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)

The people of New York City are stunned when a massive alien spacecraft descends from the sky and lands in Central Park. A panicked military contingent surrounds the super technological ship, ready for anything. Soon a human-looking alien emerges and identifies himself as Klaatu. With him is a supremely powerful robot named Gort. Klaatu tells his earthling audience that he has come to save the planet and humankind from its own self-destructive ways. Everyone is nervous but happy for the help. Little do they realize, however, is that failure is not an option. Klaatu can save earth – or destroy it.
