Plot

In the rustic outskirts of Delhi, India, a silent uprising is taking place. The women here are challenging age-old taboos surrounding menstruation, a subject shrouded in deep-seated stigma. The documentary short, "Period. End of Sentence." helmed by Rayka Zehtabchi, is a testament to their courage. For many years, these resilient women have suffered silently, lacking access to sanitary pads which has led not only to health issues but also girls forgoing school or abandoning their education entirely. The turning point arrives with the installation of a sanitary pad machine in their village. The women, armed with newfound knowledge and skills, begin to produce and sell their own pads, in turn sparking a wave of empowerment within their community. Their product is aptly named "FLY," symbolic of their desire for women to ascend above societal limitations. Unbeknownst to them, their wings are partly provided by high-school girls in distant California, who initially raised funds for the machine and established a non-profit, "The Pad Project." This stirring tale captures their journey, marking a pivotal moment in the fight against menstrual stigma.
