Life of Brian (1979)

Brian Cohen seems destined for a second rate life from the moment of his birth in a stable next to Jesus. But his entire ordinary existence is turned completely upside down after he becomes momentarily caught up in the dangerous machinations of a Judean rebel group, which demands independence from the Romans. While hiding out from his Roman pursuers, he accidentally attracts a group of devout followers, who, believing he’s the promised Messiah, mistake his every word for profound religious truth. But he’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy. This satirical comedy takes aim at political and religious dogmatism.
