Pot-loving friends Harold and Kumar are headed to Amsterdam to enjoy the legalized marijuana available there. On the flight over, Kumar lights a bong and is mistaken for a terrorist. Air marshals arrest Harold and Kumar and send them to Guantanamo Bay. Temporarily forced to be sober, the two friends are miserable and quickly begin plotting their escape. Can two potheads outwit the U.S government, track down Kumaer’s ex-girlfriend and find a way to clear themselves of all charges or are their futures about to go up in smoke?
