Plot

In the glimmering world of show business, three adult sisters, Hannah, Holly, and Lee, navigate the intricacies of life, love, and family. Their mother, a once-radiant actress, clings to her fading youth and the delusion of endless male attention, despite her ongoing marriage to their father, Evan. Hannah, the family's lighthouse, has placed her illustrious acting career on pause to raise her children and manage her second marriage to Elliot, a financial advisor. She radiates success and stability, becoming the go-to source of wisdom for everyone around her, yet she keeps her own struggles and desires hidden under the surface. Mickey, her hypochondriac first husband and comedy show writer, is spiraling in a crisis of existential dread, questioning his fate in the afterlife as a non-practicing Jew. Holly, the sensitive and somewhat flighty sister, grapples with her stunted acting career and growing dependence on Hannah. She steps into the world of entrepreneurship, launching a catering business with her actress friend, April, in an attempt to find a sense of purpose. Holly's insecurities may sabotage her budding romance with David, an architect she met during a catering gig, and her friendship with April. Lee, the metaphorical family clay, is in a tumultuous relationship with the artist Frederick, whose disdain for humanity is matched only by his adoration for her. She becomes the center of an emotional storm as Elliot, feeling neglected by Hannah, falls in love with her. Set against the backdrop of three consecutive family Thanksgiving dinners, Hannah and Her Sisters is an intricate tapestry of interpersonal relationships, familial ties, and personal quests for fulfillment. As the sisters traverse through their complex lives, they are forced to confront their insecurities, passions, and the intricate dance of love and betrayal.
