Allison Vernon-Williams is a wealthy "square" in 1950s Baltimore. She creates a stir when she falls in love with Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker. He's a "drape" from the wrong side of town. Both teenagers try to defend their romance from the disapproval of their friends and family, all while singing catchy tunes.
