Set in a dark and possibly not so distant future, Children of Men is based on a world where fertility is a premium. That means most people are not fertile. It also means that when one woman become pregnant, she faces a series of startling choices and a lot of danger to herself and the child she's carrying. This is one movie where the details start to build up slowly but surely. Viewers are left to wonder what is going on why. It's a journey well worth taking as people get a feel for how society might respond to catastrophe.
