Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

Jesse is a bullied 12-year-old who loves drawing and running. His family is poor, and his parents largely ignore him. After the new girl in school, Leslie, beats him in a foot race, he finds out they live near each other. Leslie's family is very different from his, but they eventually become friends. Together, they create a fantasy world in the woods that they call Terabithia. This provides a wonderful escape for them from the adult world, but then tragedy strikes.
