Twenty years ago, James's sister Heather vanished in the woods of Maryland while working on a documentary about a local legend, the Blair Witch. Now James has discovered footage online that he thinks will help him find out what happened to Heather, who he believes may still be alive. Along with the couple who say they found the footage and some friends, he begins to retrace the steps of Heather and her film crew, but as unexplained phenomena begin to happen around them, they start to fear they will suffer the same fate.
