American Beauty (1999)

Lester Burnham is living a typical suburban life. On the surface he appears to be happy and vaguely satisfied. Beneath it, he seethes with a profound sense of failure. He's locked into a life that doesn't suit him but he isn't sure how to break free. His wife isn't in love with him anymore and hi daughter is seemingly headed in a direction he can't begin to understand. One day he decides to take matters in his own hands and shake it all up. The result is a movie that based on a deep character study of one lost man.
