Dr. Alex Cross operates as both a forensic psychologist and a detective for the Detroit PD, and that latter specialization gives him a unique perspective that few cops possess. But when he discovers that a close family member has been murdered, Alex suddenly has personal stakes in one of his cases. The Picasso killer has been terrorizing rich businessmen in Detroit by torturing and then killing them, and the violence of the crime suggests that it's personal for the killer as well. A wealthy French investor could be the last victim, but Cross and the team suspect he may be a suspect as well.
