Akira (1988)

After Akira's mysterious powers destroyed Tokyo, the city has reformed as Neo-Tokyo, a tarnished, crime-ridden shadow of its former self. The leader of a motorcycle gang, Shotaro Kaneda, rules his section of the slum with an iron fist, but when his friend is kidnapped by the government, Kaneda rushes in to save him. Unfortunately, his friend has started to develop supernatural powers that echo the same devastating force that Akira used thirty years before. By the time Kaneda makes it to his friend, there may not be anything left to save.
