Plot

In the tranquil heartland of Banfield, Massachusetts, a tale of miracles and malevolence stirs beneath the town's quiet veneer. Gerry Fenn, a once-revered journalist now tainted by scandal, finds himself lured to this unsuspecting hamlet. Hunting for a story capable of resurrecting his dwindling career, he instead stumbles upon an enigma that defies belief. The epicenter of this mystery is Alice, a young woman bound by silence, her world muted by her deafness. Her life takes a miraculous turn when she claims to have encountered a celestial apparition in the hollow of a lifeless tree. Suddenly able to hear and speak, she becomes a vessel of healing, her touch capable of curing the sick. As the news of her divine abilities cascades through the town and beyond, a flood of pilgrims descends upon Banfield, drawn by the promise of witnessing modern miracles. Yet, as the crowds swell and the miraculous healings continue, Gerry's seasoned reporter instincts detect an undercurrent of dread. Unsettling events begin to unfurl around them, casting a shadow of doubt over the origins of Alice's newfound abilities. Is this the benevolent work of the Virgin Mary as many believe, or does a more sinister force puppeteer these miracles? As Gerry delves deeper, he finds himself teetering on the edge of a chilling revelation. The Lady of Banfield, hailed as a beacon of hope, might indeed be drawing her power from a source far darker than anyone could imagine. In the face of faith and devotion, the question lingers — is Banfield's miracle a divine act of mercy or a devilish trap? The answer lies in the heart of the unholy.
